Description: Small bound in brown cloth-covered card. 16mo. 1841 edition. Full title: "Bradshaw's Railway Companion , containing the times of departure, fares, &c. of the Railways in England and also Hackney Carriage fares, from the principal Railway stations. Illustrated with maps of the country through which the railways pass, and plans of London, Birmingham, Leeds, Liverpool and Manchester". Front cover label mostly missing, cover marked. One folding map of London to front, clean and fully intact. One folding map of Railway lines in Great Britain to rear, slightly creased but clean and fully intact. One folding engraved plate of elevation of railways, a little torn on fold, slightly creased, clean and intact. Includes four double-page city maps of: Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester, and Leeds. All city maps are in good condition, being slightly faded, with only a little wear, and weakness on the fold. There are also nine double page hand-coloured maps of railways lines depicting the main routes. A total of fifteen maps and a folding elevation plate, most of which are a little faded and edge worn but generally in good condition. A further 31 double-pages of train fares, train timetables, coach and cab fares, and disruptions to specific lines. Finally a double page "Almanack for 1841", starting to split down the centre. Generally binding is a little weak, at times causing weakening and wear to down double-page folds. Contents are a little faded, but generally clean. This is a rare early railway companion. (BS119)
